The beautiful unfolding I have witnessed within our Reiki School of Self & Wisdom.
There is something rather magical that happens when a woman finally gives herself permission to take up space in her own life.
Not the space left over when everyone else has been cared for.
Not the moments squeezed between responsibilities, expectations and the endless demands of everyday life.
But space that belongs entirely to her.
Space to breathe.
To soften.
To listen to the quiet whisper of her own wisdom.
And perhaps, for the first time in a very long while, to ask herself:
Who am I beneath all the things I have become for everybody else?
Over the years, and particularly through our nine-month Reiki School, I've had the privilege of witnessing what begins to unfold when women gift themselves this space.
And it never ceases to move me.
The Courage to Arrive as You Are
Women arrive at our Reiki School carrying their own stories.
Some have been practising Reiki for years, yet somewhere along the way have lost confidence in their connection to it.
Some have completed their training, collected their certificates and still quietly wonder whether they are doing it right.
Others are stepping onto the Reiki path for the very first time, feeling something stirring within them that they cannot quite explain.
And sometimes, beneath the excitement, there is fear.
Fear of not knowing enough.
Of not being enough.
Of finding themselves surrounded by people who seem further along their journey.
But I have come to understand that we don't need to arrive confident, healed, wise or certain.
We simply need somewhere we feel safe enough to begin.
Somewhere we can bring all of ourselves.
The light and the shadows.
The questions and the knowing.
The tender places and the strength we may not yet recognise.
And slowly, something begins to change.
When a Woman Finds Her Voice
Recently, I was speaking with one of my Reiki School students.
She told me how shy she had been before beginning her journey. How speaking with other people hadn't always come easily.
And now?
She finds herself talking with others, sharing more openly and discovering a confidence she didn't previously have.
Even her children have noticed the change in her.
And then she offered something that touched me deeply.
She said she would be happy to speak personally with anyone considering joining our next Reiki School intake.
I sat with that for a moment.
Because here was a woman who had once struggled to find the confidence to speak, now offering her voice to help another person begin their journey.
How beautiful is that?
Sometimes the changes we experience don't arrive with a great fanfare.
They quietly weave themselves into our conversations, our relationships, our homes and the way we move through the world.
Until one day, someone who loves us notices that something has shifted.
And perhaps we begin to recognise it in ourselves too.
This is what I mean when I talk about giving ourselves space to grow.
Not becoming someone entirely different.
But finding the courage to allow more of our authentic selves to be seen.
The Beautiful Unfolding
I've watched women begin to trust their intuition again.
I've seen confidence return to those who once questioned whether they could practise Reiki for themselves, let alone offer it to another.
I've watched friendships blossom between women whose paths might never otherwise have crossed.
And I've witnessed the moment someone begins to recognise that her experiences, her voice and her wisdom matter.
There is something powerful about sitting in a circle of women who are no longer trying to prove themselves.
Women who listen.
Who encourage.
Who share their experiences without needing to have all the answers.
Who begin to understand that we can learn just as much from one another as we do from any teaching.
One of my students wrote something in a letter to her former self that has stayed with me:
“You may be the smallest fish in the pond but what a pond to swim in.”
I love those words.
Because sometimes the most nourishing thing we can do is surround ourselves with people who remind us of what is possible.
Not through comparison, but through connection.
Not by becoming someone else, but by finding the courage to become more fully ourselves.
Why Time Matters
When I first began teaching Reiki, I followed the more conventional two-day training format.
And while those days held beautiful learning, I began to feel that something was missing.
There was so little room for the depth, exploration and personal expansion that I knew these teachings could offer.
We could introduce practices, but where was the time to discover what happened when those practices became part of everyday life?
Where was the space to ask difficult questions, to explore the Reiki precepts, to share our experiences and to notice how we were changing?
I wanted something different.
I wanted my students to have the opportunity to live with the teachings.
To return to them again and again.
To explore, to question, to practise, to grow.
And to discover how traditional Japanese Reiki could become a beautiful, simple part of modern everyday life.
And so the nine-month Reiki School of Self & Wisdom came into being.
Nine months.
A length of time that feels beautifully symbolic to me.
A time of gestation.
Of nurturing.
Of allowing something to unfold in its own beautiful way.
A space in which something can be gently reborn.
Not a new person, but a woman returning to the authentic self who has always lived beneath the layers.
Because the deepest discoveries cannot always be hurried.
They need room to breathe.
The Wisdom of Daily Practice
One of the most beautiful things I witness is what happens when women begin to give themselves a little time each day.
Not necessarily hours.
Sometimes simply a few moments to place their hands upon themselves, return to their breath and reconnect with Reiki.
A moment to listen.
To notice.
To remember.
Our daily self-practice becomes more than something we do.
It can become an act of love towards ourselves.
A quiet declaration that our own wellbeing matters too.
Through traditional Japanese Reiki, we explore the precepts not simply as words to recite, but as teachings to live.
How do we respond when life feels difficult?
How do we care for ourselves without guilt?
How do we move through our relationships with greater awareness?
How do we honour Mother Earth, recognising that we are not separate from her, but an inseparable part of her beautiful living world?
These questions don't always bring immediate answers.
But they invite us into a deeper relationship with ourselves, with one another and with the Earth beneath our feet.
And the more we practise, the more opportunities we discover to bring this awareness into the beautiful ordinariness of our lives.
The Gift of Being Witnessed
Perhaps one of the most precious things our school offers is community.
A place to be heard without being fixed.
To be seen without being judged.
To share without needing to find the perfect words.
One of my students described our school as:
“The safety of B's nest.”
I smiled when I read that.
Because it captures something I have always hoped to create.
A place where women can rest their wings for a while.
Where they can gather strength, rediscover their courage and eventually feel ready to fly in their own beautiful way.
I don't believe a teacher holds all the wisdom.
I believe each person brings something precious to the circle.
And when we give ourselves permission to learn from one another, something quite extraordinary can unfold.
We begin to recognise ourselves in one another.
We discover that we aren't alone in our doubts, our fears or our longing for something deeper.
And perhaps, somewhere along the way, we begin to understand that the wisdom we were searching for has been quietly living within us all along.
Coming Home to Ourselves
Healing isn't always about fixing something that is broken.
Sometimes it's about remembering what was never truly lost.
Our intuition.
Our confidence.
Our connection with ourselves.
Our sense of belonging to Mother Earth.
Our permission to live a life that feels true.
I've been practising Reiki for 18 years, and I'm still learning, still growing, still discovering.
I don't believe the journey ever really ends.
But I do know how much can begin to shift when we give ourselves the time and space to listen.
And perhaps that is the invitation I want to leave with you.
Wherever you are in your life, whatever you are carrying, whatever you have forgotten about yourself along the way...
You are worthy of your own time.
Your wisdom matters.
And you deserve space to unfold.
Sometimes we don't need to become someone new.
We simply need the space to remember who we have always been.
Wild love,
B x
